GRAPES: 100% Monterey County Pinot Noir, sourced from 3 vineyards. Mission Ranch Vineyard is a SIP certifies sustainably farmed vineyard in Arroyo Seco AVA, and an estate vineyard of Folktale. Kristy’s Vineyard is in the Monterey County AVA and is also SIP certified. Rick’s Vineyard is in the southern part of the county, and, while not certified, is sustainably farmed. AROMA: Ripe cherries, strawberry preserves, floral notes of roses, earthiness, and a touch of oak. FLAVOR: There is a great balance of fruit and oak on the palate that reminds me of cherry pie, but there is also a light, refreshing quality of watermelon on the finish. This richness on the mid-palate, is enhanced by floral notes that are indicative of Monterey. The smooth finish and bright acid begs to be enjoyed with food. Based in Carmel, California, Folktale Winery, the home of Golden, is located just 5 miles from the Pacific Ocean. We think it’s one of the most beautiful places on earth, and we are inspired every day to be able to make wines here. As a growing region, Monterey County is ideally suited to cool climate varieties, such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The warm, dry summer days are cooled each afternoon by the Pacific Ocean breeze and fog. This creates an extended growing season, allowing the grapes to develop layers of complexity and flavor. The rocky, volcanic soils impart great mineral notes and acidity.
